Fairlight Cove – St Peter

This part of what is now the united parish of Pett, Guestling and Fairlight was originally in the parish of Pett.  As the population of the parish grew, a converted military hut was opened here in 1947 for worship (church website), but in 1968 was found to be in an advanced state of decay.  A replacement was consecrated in 1970 and although still of timber, is a considerable advance on  its predecessor.  It has a higher main part with a pitched roof and lower parts to east and west that also have sloping roofs.  The main windows are set close to the eaves.

My thanks to Nick Wiseman for the photograph
